Advanced Chiropractic Care
At the Cohn Health Institute our specialized doctors offer a vast variety of chiropractic techniques. Since no two patients are alike, each patient is assessed to determine which style of chiropractic care will offer the most therapeutic value. There are non-force, light touch, and traditional high velocity techniques which are all done by hand or utilizing instruments and equipment based techniques when needed. Receiving care this way allows you, the patient, to receive a customized session focused on your specific needs.
AK | Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology (AK) is the art of using manual muscle testing as a diagnostic tool to enable the doctor to get information from the body for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment. AK concerns itself with examining and providing therapeutic care for the structural, chemical, and emotional health of the human body.
AK is used worldwide by all types of doctors to better determine what’s happening with the body at any moment in time as well as the best course of care for each individual patient. Combined with standard methods of diagnosis, AK has become one of the world’s most popular and effective healing arts.
NET | Neuro Emotional Technique
NET is a mind-body technique that uses a methodology of finding and removing neurological imbalances related to the physiology of unresolved stress. NET is a tool that can help improve many behavioral and physical conditions.
NET Practitioners are nearly unlimited in their ability to address the physical and behavioral stress-related conditions of their patients. These conditions include headaches, body pains, phobias, general anxiety, self-sabotaging behaviors, organ dysfunctions and so much more. It’s important to note that NET does not cure or heal the patient, but rather, NET removes blocks to the natural vitalism of the body, “allowing” the body to repair itself naturally. At the Cohn Health Institute, we have more NET practitioners than any clinic globally.
QN | Quantum Neurology
Quantum Neurology (QN) is an advanced system of neurologic rehabilitation. This state of the art therapeutic technique uses manual muscle testing as a diagnostic tool.
QN has been used to restore function in the most highly complex neurologically affected cases as well as with the most decorated world-class athletes to naturally increase human performance. QN is an instrument-based technique and is best known for its ability to produce instant results in a large number of cases.
NAET | Nambudripad Allergy Elimination Technique
Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique (NAET) is an innovative, natural method for regaining better health and helping the body better deal with allergies and hyper-sensitivites. NAET is a non-invasive, drug-free, natural solution to help alleviate allergies.
NAET utilizes acupuncture, acupressure, chiropractic, nutritional and kinesiological disciplines of medicine. Our NAET practitioners treat one allergen at a time but may require multiple visits to desensitize the top 15-20 food or environmental allergens. Many health issues have hidden allergens as their origin. NAET can help to determine whether your health issues are based in allergies or hyper-sensitivities.
CRA | Contact Reflex Analysis
Contact Reflex Analysis is a technique that evaluates every organ, gland, system and cell in the body. It is a priority-based system that allows the doctor to find the right therapy and apply it at the right time. These therapies consist of nutritional supplements, essential oil blends, chiropractic work and Sympathetic Resonance Technology. When the combination of these is utilized, the body is guided to a state of balance that allows for wellness to take place.
KST | Koren Specific Technique
KST is a chiropractic technique that uses binary biofeedback to locate areas of stress to the body and nervous system that are interfering with normal health and function and to then prioritize what needs to be corrected and make specific corrections to restore optimal function to the body.
The beauty of KST is it works with the innate wisdom of the body. The human body is incredibly intelligent, and always knows what it needs to heal. Binary biofeedback allows the practitioner to tap into that wisdom and receive feedback from the body as to what corrections need to be made. KST can also be used in facilitating emotional release and recommending specific supplementation and therapies that will greatly benefit the patient.
NIS | Neurolink
Neurolink (NIS), also known as Neurological Integration System, is a treatment method that uses manual muscle testing in its analysis. NIS is based on the scientific principle that the brain governs the ‘optimum function’ of all the body’s systems. As long as the neurology (brain) is communicating appropriately with the physiology (body), ‘optimum function’ should be the result. Different types of stresses can disrupt this ‘optimum function”. NIS looks to identify and remove these stresses.
TBM | Total Body Modification
Total Body Modification is a comprehensive system of alternative healing that was compiled by Dr. Victor Frank, D.C. NMD, DO, DIBAK as an integrative approach to restoring the body’s self-regulation and healing capacity by working through the Automatic Nervous System. TBM rapidly restores function-specific and global energetic harmony to the human body, resulting in seemingly miraculous changes in a patient’s state of health.
TBM is based on the philosophy that our symptoms are a language that the body uses to tell us something is wrong somewhere. The more serious the problem, the louder the language. The body will handle problems as well as it can. If it needs help, it says so with a symptom. This symptom may initially appear to be totally unrelated to the problem the body is working with, but by treating the body as a whole, each symptom will resolve as the person heals.
The Lebowitz Technique is an innovative approach to alternative medicine developed by Dr. Michael Lebowitz, DC that applies muscle testing techniques and Applied Kinesiology to address the fields of dysbiosis (fungus, parasites, bacteria, virus, etc.), food sensitivities, toxic metals, hormone imbalance, chemical and electromagnetic field sensitivity, nutrient deficiencies, as well as neurological desensitization techniques.
The basic method involves the use of test vials placed in the body’s field while observing changes to a muscle test in response to this energetic challenge. This unique protocol helps identify specific herbal and nutritional interventions to help restore a natural return to health.
CFR | Cranial Facial Release
Cranial Facial Release (CFR) is an advanced endo-nasal “Balloon Assisted” cranial adjusting technique that has been used quite successfully in the treatment of various neurological and structural disorders. It is a specialized technique that was derived from an earlier form of endo-nasal cranial adjusting called Bilateral Nasal Specific (BNS) pioneered by chiropractor Richard Stober in the 1960’s and 70’s. CFR was originated by Dr. Adam Del Torto, DC and is an offshoot of BNS, but is much more specific and much less invasive.
The objective of CFR technique is to unlock cranial fixations and induce mobility in the cranial system – primarily targeting the sphenoid bone, with the purpose of facilitating normal cranial respiratory motion and normal cranial function. This technique is performed by inserting tiny balloons in the nose (specifically the naso pharynx) that are quickly inflated to mobilize the bones of the face and cranium. It is a very fast procedure and feels similar to the sensation of jumping into a swimming pool and having water shoot up your nose – it isn’t exactly painful, but not the most comfortable sensation either – but it’s quick! The whole process takes about 2 to 3 seconds, and is performed in a series of 4 individual days of treatment over a 7-10 day period.
ART | Active Release Techniques
A.R.T. (Active Release Techniques) is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement-based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with A.R.T.
These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles. How do overuse conditions occur? Overused muscles (and other soft tissues) change in three important ways: acute conditions (pulls, tears, collisions, etc.), accumulation of small tears (micro-trauma), or not getting enough oxygen (hypoxia).
Each of these factors can cause your body to produce tough, dense scar tissue in the affected area. This scar tissue binds up and ties down tissues that need to move freely. As scar tissue builds up, muscles become shorter and weaker, tension on tendons causes tendonitis, and nerves can become trapped. This can cause reduced range of motion, loss of strength, and pain. If a nerve is trapped you may also feel tingling, numbness, and weakness.
